Choosing the right face oil for your skin type.
Dispelling the myth that oil makes your face greasy:
Oils are lipophilic (they dissolve in fats) while it may seen counter intuitive you need oil to combat oil. Furthermore, although it may seem odd, oils can work wonders on oily and blemish prone skin.
An oil is actually an integral component to healthy skin. Many oils are rich in linoleum acid which are necessary for the manufacturing of ceramides, an essential component of the skin barrier. They are packed with essential nutrients, fatty acids and antioxidants. They repair and protect the skin with a protective layer for the cells.
Acne prone skin:
Tea tree oil is antimicrobial and anti-fungal.
Sage oil reduces inflammation, regulates the production of oil on the skin.
Choose a multi Vitamin face oil that combines Vit A, E and beta carotene like meadowfoam seed oil, buriti oil, and jojoba oil. Skip the coconut oil because it's just too fatty for congested skin. Your best bets are the oils listed above with the small molecular size that sink into the pores quickly and don't clog.
The worst oil is mineral oil. Avoid any products with this as an ingredient as this can clog pores.
Drier skins can use many oils such as jojoba oil, safflower oil, meadowfoam seed oil, avocado oil, coconut oil and buriti oil.
